Trustees

Venkatesh Raman

Professor, The Institute of Mathematical Sciences, Chennai

Venkatesh Raman is the Managing Trustee of All Career Guru. He has been a faculty and researcher at IMSc Chennai since 1991, his research interests are in Data Structures and Algorithms. He was recently elected as the ACM India President. He obtained his M.Math (in combinatorics and optimisation), PhD in Computer Science from University of Waterloo, Canada. Earlier he obtained his MSc in Mathematics from IIT Kanpur and BSc in Mathematics from St Xavier’s College affiliated to Madurai Kamaraj University. He was the president of ACM India from 2022-2024.

Ananthanarayanan Velu

Faculty at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore

Graduate electronics and communication engineer with post graduate engineering in Computer Science and Engineering. He was awarded Ph.D by Faculty of Information and Communication Engineering, Anna University, Chennai for his research works in the area of wireless heterogeneous networks. He has more than 29 years of teaching experience in various technical institutions.

Ashwin Raman

Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer, Spine AI, Toronto

Ashwin is the co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Spine AI, a Toronto and San Francisco based company backed by Y Combinator. He was formerly at Amazon where he holds patents in dynamic language model loading for offline Alexa and optimizing data streaming in AWS Aurora MySQL. As the first engineering hire, he played a pivotal role in building the AWS team in Toronto, conducting interviews and training staff to become interviewers and on-call engineers. His work contributed to bot mitigation and experimentation platforms at Instacart. Prior to Amazon and Instacart, Ashwin worked on performance and heat balancing algorithms at Nvidia. Ashwin holds a BASc. in Computer Engineering from the University of Waterloo.

Balaji Rajagopalan

Professor, University of Colorado, Boulder,

Professor Rajagopalan Balaji, a distinguished academic at CU Boulder, specializes in interdisciplinary research areas such as hydro-climatology, water resources management, and paleoclimate. Formerly chair of the Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering (CEAE), his work on improving water resource management in the Western USA, notably the Colorado River System, earned him accolades including the Partners In Conservation Award. With over 210 peer-reviewed articles, he has made significant contributions to prestigious journals like Science and Nature Geoscience. Recognized as a Fulbright-Kalam Climate Fellow (2023-2025) and Fellow of ASCE, AGU, and CIRES, his achievements underscore his dedication to advancing climate research and engineering.

R. Ramanujam

R. Ramanujam, President of the Mathematics Teachers Association of India

R. Ramanujam, a distinguished academic, holds a PhD in Computer Science from Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai. He served as a faculty member at the Institute of Mathematical Sciences, Chennai, and currently holds visiting professor positions at Azim Premji University, Bengaluru, and Tsinghua University, Beijing. Notably, he is President of the Mathematics Teachers Association of India and Editor of Thulir, a Tamil monthly science magazine for children. Recognized for his significant contributions, he received the 2020 Indira Gandhi Award for Science Popularization in Indian languages from the Indian National Science Academy.

G. Baskaran

G. Baskaran, Professor Emeritus at the Institute of Mathematical Sciences, Chennai

G. Baskaran, a renowned theoretical physicist, delves into quantum phenomena, with a focus on room temperature superconductivity and novel quantum phases. Fascinated by nature, biology, and neuroscience, his educational journey began in Tamil medium at St. Mary’s High School, followed by studies in physics at Thiagarajar College and The American College in Madurai. He earned his Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. As Professor Emeritus at the Institute of Mathematical Sciences, Chennai, and Distinguished Professor at IIT Madras, his expertise is internationally recognized, earning him fellowships from IASc, INSA, and TWAS, along with prestigious awards such as the ICTP Award, S.S. Bhatnagar Award, and G.N. Ramachandran Award for Theoretical Physics. He also engages in popular science lectures and writings in Tamil, showcasing his dedication to science communication.
